Resorts come in two flavors because most people don't realize that there's the place that has a lot of fun and that would be the equivalent of the resort from Dirty Dancing. Where there's plenty of fun and activities but not much more than that.
The other flavor is the all-inclusive, where depending on your selection of hotel or resort will decide the level of service that you receive as a guest.
So do you want a drink brought to you by the pool and do you want to have to think about it or do you just want to drink it. I use this example because, it decides somewhat simpler then working out what it's going to cost because if your mind set is relaxation and service then you want an all-inclusive vacation.
Just wanna keep the kids busy and off the electronics and having a good time making some family memories? Then you want a resort just a plain old resort full of fun stuff to do.
Let's have an honest discussion about rating hotels.
How important are the stars? I guess it depends on what you want from the hotel. If you want to be exactly where you want to be on the beach or in the middle of the city or out in the country. What you really need to decide is the level of appearance, aesthetics, cleanliness and authenticity.
Approach feel a little weird? The difference between the $5000 suite and the $40 motel/hotel that's right on the beach like walk out your door and there's the beach, now we're playing the stars game.
Is it just you? Did you bring the kids? Is the food to feed you more affordable and readily available at the five star or at the one star? As a general rule I try and make sure that I book three star hotels this is a bit of the best of both worlds but not always. That conversation we're going to have while we figure out your hotel.
Now, depending on what you want to do on your vacation is also a part of the star game for your hotel choice. If you want to go on all the tours and see all the sites of museums and such you might want to consider dropping your stars to bring more money to the table to do the list of available activities.
Keeping it honest. You may get what you pay for but if you plan ahead you might get more than you paid for and that makes for a better overall vacation experience.
This covers everything outside of the of the previous discussed areas. It could be a hostel because you just need a place to rest while on your tour of Europe or it might be a condo because you want to have the independence of your own space fully available (washer dryer dishwasher full kitchen etc) or maybe it's the once in a lifetime trip and you don't want neighbors or shared bathrooms but you want something to mark the memory very, very special. We got you!
Call and tell us what you want to do we'll figure out your lodging as we go.
Everywhere else gives you the freedom to come and go as you please to live in a culture, learning languages and eating foods that you would have never thought of or heard of. For the solo traveler sometimes this is the best thing in the universe because it lets them experience so much more.
